Kitchen Updates!

We decided to do some renovating this summer. We did not like the (poorly installed) white tile that was in our kitchen when we moved in. We wanted to replace it. And to replace that with what we wanted, we also needed to change the cabinet colors. While we're at it, paint the kitchen! Oh and the dining room. And the office! And change the rug and curtains in the living room. Shew! Almost forgot how much work it was. But totally worth it. We LOVE the kitchen now and actually enjoy spending time in there.

We had to move everything out for work to be done! Lived without a kitchen for a few days.

BJ came to town and helped me paint in August. We painted the walls and trim of the kitchen, along with the dining room and office. This is after we painted it and cleared it out for the tile and cabinet painting to be done.

We didn't take the best before pictures.

After the old tile had been torn up and the cabinets sanded.

New tile going in!

Cabinets painted!

LOVE the completed look! Trey and I changed out the light fixtures.
(Got the new ones from Pottery Barn!)

We used Versatile Edge for the tile and cabinet work, they did a great job and were very well priced!

Another view. Obviously an iPhone camera doesn't really do the colors justice.

The dining room used to have a dark red/magenta on the bottom and old green curtains. I also love love love these changes!

One last touch... My friend's husband has a business  (AB Chalk Designs) hand lettering chalkboards, etc. I asked him to do this board for me to put above our bed. It's perfect!

Holiday House Tour

In case you haven't noticed, I love love love Christmas decorations. I love to sit in my living room with only the tree lights on at night. I have a little bit of Christmas in almost every room of the house.

My new NCSU tree in Trey's office.
The red lights don't show up well in the picture, it isn't that pink in real life!

The wreath I made years ago is still surviving

House Projects

We've been doing all kinds of things around the house lately.

We got a tv to go on the porch to enjoy as the weather cools down :)

We decided to paint our bedroom to open it up some. We had a dark brown accent wall and the other 3 walls were a lighter but still brown color. We went with gray and it looks amazing, we love it. We thought since we were painting it was also time to get rid of the Carolina blue bathroom we've had since we moved in.

6 paint samples later we made a decision....

Spring is here!

It has finally warmed up outside and we are really enjoying the nice weather.

We get to hang out on the porch a lot, take the dogs on evening walks, play lots of frisbee.

Little man came to stay for a week while Frank and BJ were out of town. He insisted on sitting on my lap anytime I sat down and sleeping in our bed. We enjoyed having an extra snuggle bug. He even got playful from time to time.

We are hoping to do a few yard works tasks in the coming months, the first was to move the garden box to a spot that is actually sunny all day. We have tried it in multiple places but our back yard gets so little sun that it hasn't been successful. Trey spent a day this weekend swapping the azaleas with the garden box and we are hoping it will bring lots of goodies this year! It's also nice because now we can look out the kitchen window and see what is sprouting up.

Sunday we went to Mom and Dads for Easter dinner and the dogs got Easter baskets :) Vegas hid behind the couch with her new toy so that no one else would try to steal it.

We also went outside in time to see the International Space Station flying over head! It travels at 17,000 MPH. Crazy.
