It's always beautiful the day you have to leave

Saturday we were scheduled to be picked up by the shuttle to go back to the airport at noon. We got up and enjoyed breakfast one last time and then spent a few hours hanging out on the beach. It was beautiful, of course! We had been wanting to play with their water toys so we went out on the aqua cycle. It was surprising easy to steer.

Sadly, we had to head back to shower and pack around 11. We got one last drink to take to the room - we had been wanting to try it all week. It was a bucket called voodoo juice, basically rum and fruit juice, it was good!

We were picked up by a shuttle bus to go back to the airport. We got a few pretty pictures as we rounded the hillsides on the way. As we were driving through Charlotte Amalie, Trey was playing with his wedding ring and we were sitting in the front seat of the bus - next to the door. The door was a little double door that swings closed, but wasn't 100% sealed. Well I'm sure you can guess... he dropped his ring - ping, ping, ping - out the crack in the door! As I scream the bus driver stops the bus. Luckily they drive on the left side of the road and we were in the far left lane - and the traffic, for once, wasn't as busy as we've seen it. Trey and the nice bus driver got out to look for it, it wasn't too far behind us and the sunlight shined off of it just the right way so Trey actually found it pretty quickly. As he got back on the bus an older man across from us showed him his hand and said that his has stayed on for 28 years :) Maybe he won't play with his ring as much anymore.

We finally made it to the airport! As we unloaded our luggage we saw a huge line near the American Airlines check in. Trey and I were excited that we were flying Delta and wouldn't have to deal with that line. We were wrong... that line was to get through customs, it just happened to weave past the AA check in. It took us about an hour to get through customs and security. By then we were hungry, so we stood in line another 20 minutes at the only food option in the airport. Before we knew it we were boarding a plane to head home! It was sad to leave but also kind of exciting to get back to our bed and our dogs :) We were welcomed home with lots of slobbery kisses.

Our last full day

Friday was our last full day in St. Thomas. We got up Friday morning and had a delicous breakfast at Lobster Grille before we boarded Heavenly Days one last time to go on the half day sail to go snorkeling with turtles. The sail went to the island directly across from our bay where there are tons of sea turtles hanging out. We were on the boat for about 3 hours. We snorkeled for about an hour and then got back on the boat to get some sun and drinks! We saw a LOT of sea turtles!

We got back in time for lunch and ate at Lobster Grille again. Their lunch is not quite as fancy as breakfast or dinner, but it did the job! The weather got a little cloudy for a while and we were exhausted, so we took a nap for a little while. At the meet the managers happy hour that I mentioned before, one of the managers mentioned to us that they would be doing a photoshoot later in the week and they needed some people to be in their new pictures for the website. We had talked with her the night before and planned to meet up with them in the mid afternoon. Since the weather was cloudy their shoot had been changed over and over. They set up a patio and got us colorful, fruity drinks and wanted to get our picture just hanging out sipping our drinks with the beautiful beach and sun behind us - too bad it wasn't sunny! This was the only 2 hour period that it wasn't sunny during our entire week there. The photographer was convinced that the lighting wasn't good enough for what they needed, so they took a few pictures for us and said they would email them to us, but they weren't going to be able to use them on the website :( Oh well it was a fun thought!

We hung out by the pool for a while, finishing our fruity drinks and reading a book. Then before we knew it it was time for dinner at lobster grille for one last time!

A day in the BVIs

Thursday we got up bright and early to get a cab over to Sugar Bay. We signed up for a day sail on the Daydreamer, that leaves from the Wyndham. We were welcomed aboard with juices, fresh fruit and muffins.  We set sail for St. John for a morning snorkel. They don't always go to the same place but we ended up going to Honeymoon Beach, the same place we went snorkeling on Tuesday! So Trey and I snorkeled again and spent some time hanging out on the beach.

Back on the boat, heading to Jost Van Dyke!

From there we set sail for Jost Van Dyke!  The crew takes care of customs for us (since it's the British Virgin Islands). We went to "downtown" Jost Van Dyke to the famous Foxy's for shopping and lunch.

 After lunch, we left "town" and cruised to White Bay.  There we enjoyed the fun of the infamous Soggy Dollar Bar, a bar on the island. In the past there was no road to this area, you had to boat over and there is no dock, so you either take your dingy up to the beach or swim up! There is now a little road connecting this bay area to town, but most people still boat over and swim up.  White Bay is absolutely gorgeous.   We bought t-shirts from Soggy Dollar Bar which they put in a ziploc bag for you to get back to your boat!

We ate dinner at Lobster Grill, again! We enjoyed working our way through their menu and each night they have different specials. After dinner we relaxed in one of the hammocks on the beach :)
