Christmas in Delaware

Last weekend we headed up to Delaware for the annual Sutton Family Christmas! We left Friday around lunch time and stopped in Alexandria for dinner with Terry and Melissa. We went to Columbian Firehouse in Old Town Alexandria... it was great!

 Driving by DC:

We made it up to Dover around 10:30.

We stayed up for a few hours visiting and got our gifts from Trey's parents. They were so good to us! Trey got a ton of tools & a couple of my favorite things that I got were a new GPS running watch and a hammock chair for our porch.

Showing my mom my new watch, clutch & purse:

Saturday morning we got up and headed to the Dogfish Head Brewery... I'm posting all about that (and tons of pictures) tomorrow! Here's a sneak peak of what we came home with from there:

Saturday afternoon was our Christmas gathering at Mommom Pat's house. We exchanged gifts with the family and relaxed for a while!

Sunday morning we made our way back to NC... we made pretty good time - just over 6 hours! We got back just in time for Trey to watch the panther's game while I unloaded the car and tried to find space to put away all of our new gadgets!

After the game he assembled my new hammock! We hung it on a hook that existed on the front porch to test it out. We will have to move it because it isn't centered, but we aren't sure if we want it on the front or back porch in the long run. It's so comfy! I can't wait to sit and read my nook for hours in it :)

I Love These Two

As we were getting in bed a few nights ago, Tyson decided to curl up with Vegas in her bed. He loves to cuddle his sister.
Trying his hardest to snuggle on his sis

He did get out at one point and then I woke up at 1:30 am to find this adorable view again:

She doesn't like being smothered by him so she curled up further back under her covers :)

Zucchini Casserole

We made this zucchini casserole for dinner a few nights ago and it was pretty good, so I thought I would share the recipe. I just googled a zucchini casserole and this is one of the ones I stumbled upon.

What You Need:
2 medium zucchini, unpeeled, sliced in 1/4-inch slices
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
2 tomatoes, sliced
salt and pepper, to taste
garlic powder, to taste
basil and oregano, about 1/4 teaspoon each
6 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese

What You Do:
Preheat oven to 350°. Butter a 2-quart casserole. Arrange zucchini slices in casserole. Top with onion slices, green and red pepper slices, tomato slices, then sprinkle with herbs. Top with cheese. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes.

A picture of it half eaten!

"Christmas Dinner"

I posted last week about our fun weekly dinners with friends. Well as Christmas was approaching we decided to turn one of our weekly dinners into our Christmas celebration since Trey and I would be out of town over the week of Christmas.

On Wednesday night we had bruschetta for an appetizer then dinner was lasagna, zucchini casserole (I will post the recipe for this later!) with salad and bread followed up by delicious fondue. We had the seasonal Wiggo on tap from Carolina Brewing Company in our kegerator and enjoyed a fun night with friends!
We had to seat 9 people... at first it was going to be 10 and I tried to connect our real table with a folding table. When it only ended up being 9 we decided to squish around the big table :)

I didn't take a ton of pictures but here are a few:
The original set up
We ended up using the smaller table as a buffet
The group picture (excluding me, the photographer)
 My plate of fondue dippers!
 Fondue!

Vegas's New Bed

Christmas came early for Vegas! Her grandma and grandpa ordered her a new bed called the cozy cave from Drs Foster & Smith website. The Sunday after Thanksgiving they were 50% off! Great deal. It arrived fairly quickly and we got antsy for her to have her warm comfy bed.

So Saturday afternoon my parents went out to run some errands and brought the bed with them. They stopped by to deliver her present :) She and Tyson had a great time getting it out of the box:

At first, since we had gotten her so excited, she didn't really understand that it was to just sleep in, not play with. But as the day went on she definitely enjoyed hanging out in her new bed. Tyson enjoyed it too. Now I don't get woken up with that sweet but quiet little whine like "mommy recover me with my blanket."
