Fall Asheville Weekend

My co-worker got married in Asheville in October, just in time to see the leaves change! Christy and Jonathan tagged along with us for a fun weekend in the mountains.

We wanted to make it a longer weekend and take off days but we were heading to Disney the next week so we couldn't really take any more time off.

So, we left after work on a Friday afternoon. Since Asheville is 4 hours away we wouldn't get up there until late anyways and decided to stop in Winston Salem at Foothills Brewery for dinner and a couple of drinks. They had delicious food and good drinks!

My co-worker's parents own a zipline course and adventure park and allowed the wedding guests to go to the adventure park on Saturday morning. After a hearty breakfast buffet at the hotel we hit the course. We started with the an easier course but even still were a little bit nervous. You are hooked in to the wires but high above the ground! It was so much fun, I honestly didn't know what to expect and it was awesome.

After we completed one course we decided to try a couple more a little bit higher/harder. Those had some really nerve-racking obstacles but we felt pretty accomplished when we finished.

After the ropes course we headed to Wicked Weed for a drink and lunch.

Trey and I headed to the wedding at Yesterday Spaces just outside of Asheville. It was gorgeous and they had a great selection of craft beers to drink!

Sunday morning we went to Mayfel's for breakfast and tried some yummy beignets.

Then we wanted to do some hiking, so we drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway and tried a trail near the visitors center.... it wasn't much more than we could have done around Falls Lake at home but it was still nice to get in a little bit of activity before heading home. Next time we need to have a plan for better hiking before the day of!
